Surely no one has to tell you how wonderful cranberry juice is. Every single person on the planet knows this stuff is going to protect the urinary tract, that the immense amount of anti-oxidants are going to promote healthy skin, and, of course, that cranberry juice has a specific bacteria that helps prevent plaque in the mouth.
Even though everyone on earth knows there are numerous health benefits associated with cranberry juice, still a lot of people do not invest the time into acquiring a taste for it. Hopefully a tasty, gourmet and easy to make recipe will get people more enthused about drinking their cranberry juice.
This recipe is only going to take around 35 minutes to make, but that is not including chill time required. You wouldn’t want to drink your juice hot, would you?
Start by getting out two quarts of water and eight cups of fresh or frozen cranberries. In a large kettle you want to bring the water to a boil with the cranberries completely submersed.
Once the water starts bubbling place a cover on top of the kettle and let it simmer for approximately twenty minutes. The cranberries should pop.
After the cranberries have popped strain the juice to separate the juice from the cranberries. Pour the juice back into the pot and keep the heat on high and add a half cup of lemon juice, a half cup of orange juice, and one and a half cups of sugar.
Bring the juice back to a boil and stir until all the sugar is dissolved. Now place the juice in a refrigerator and let it sit until it is chilled.
If you do not mind it being a little more watered down you can add ice cubes into the mix while you are waiting for it to be cooled. Or you could just drink the juice boiling hot, but that is not recommended because it could burn your tongue.
Cranberry juice is really as easy as boiling water, straining popped cranberries, re-boiling the juice and adding lemon juice, orange juice and sugar. The hardest part of this recipe would have to be waiting for it to cool, so that you can actually drink it.
This is a great way to spruce up even a very simple dinner like mac-n-cheese. Also making homemade juice is going to be a really great way to impress your friends.
